Heidelberg Engineering GmbH manufactures and develops digital diagnostics solutions and is the leader in the field of imaging systems for ophthalmologic applications. The Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT 3) can be used for a variety of diagnostic applications. Originally developed for the analysis of glaucomas, the HRT3 has nowadays become the gold standard in the field of early detection and monitoring of the progression of the disease. The Retina Module of the HRT3 can produce an oedema map and in future it will also be able to produce a retinal thickness map. The Cornea Module converts the HRT3 into a laser scanner microscope. The Heidelberg Retina Angiograph (HRA 2), also based on confocal laser scanner technology, enables users to perform high-resolution and high-contrast, dynamic fluorescein or ICG angiography as well as autofluorescence imaging. Numerous automatic and manual measurements can be made with the SL-OCT enabling the contact-free gonioscopy and exact biometry of the entire anterior eye segment. The Heidelberg Engineering pocket pachymeter IOPac Advanced (weighing only 165 grammes) with automatic ocular hypertension correction has already won over many doctors all over the world. For 2007, the company is planning the introduction of a new HRC camera for mydriatic and non-mydriatic applications.
